Chicken Yassa a West African Favorite

Courtesy of the Food Network

A few years ago we traveled to Senegal, West Africa. It was a great trip and we traveled through many cities. No matter what city we were in, someone would eventually say, “I/we would like to make you a special dish called Chicken Yassa.” Needless to say we ate a lot of Chicken Yassa and it was very good. It is a spicy dish made with chicken, lemons, onions, and peppers and served over rice. Some recipes even call for olives, vinegar, or mustard. It’s best when marinated. Whether baked, grilled, or pan roasted, Chicken Yassa is a tasty dish that is easy to make and delicious to eat.

  1. Thanks for this post. Chicken Yassa is one of my favorites as well. Never tried to cook it myself, but I order it whenever I dine at "Kilimanjaro," a wonderful Senegalese restaurant in West Philadelphia, which I highly recommend.
