You need 2 things when you go to
the ICFF show in NYC: good walking shoes and stamina. This show is big. It seemed like there were less booths
this year, nevertheless there was still lots to see. We saw innovative, wood furniture, digital textiles, wall
paper, tile, glass, and everything for the home; each with its own uniqueness.
IKEA even had a space and the new furnishings looked great. We enjoyed catching up with one of our
favorite rug designers Malene B; her designs are phenomenal.
As
part of the ICFF there was also an entire space, in a separate hall, devoted to
the Africa and African Caribbean Diaspora, which we stumbled upon by accident.
This organization was formed to “promote a greater awareness amongst the
British public of the creative talent of the African and African-Caribbean
diaspora in the UK.” It was not very well publicized or well attended given the
fact that the actual show was packed. But we enjoyed it immensely. We made some
good connections and look forward to building new relationships. Looking
forward to next year.
