Only, my friend and business partner Monna, would agree to
host a wedding in her back yard with only one week to plan. Monna spent the
night before the wedding making a broom for the bride and groom to jump over,
cleaning and helping the bride’s friends and family go over the food and
details. I showed up early Saturday morning to help get things in place like
wiping down the folding chairs, and setting up the tables and food area for the
10:00 am affair. Monna’s niece Camille served as hostess. The bride’s friend, a
caterer, provided a spread of olives, various cheeses, handmade candied pecans,
fruit and monogrammed cup cakes. Twenty guests were on hand to bear witness and
share in the joyous occasion. The bride wore an elegant off white matching
skirt and top with flowers fashioned from ribbons and a simple shoulder length
umbrella veil. The groom, Monna’s colleague, wore a blue suit. After the brief
ceremony, guests mingled over the food, mimosas and champagne. This simple yet
elegant affair was over by 12:00 pm. As people were leaving they thanked us for
hosting a beautiful event. It was beautiful. Someone even asked if we were
event planners. Since it went well, Monna and I entertained the idea of adding
event planners to our repertoire. So if you are looking for someone with great
ideas and creativity to plan your next event… Call Monna, I’m going to be out
of town that week.
