Denys found these inexpensive clay African masks from the Cameroon and decided to make wind chimes out of them. It was like making a big earring.

ICFF - International Contemporary Furniture Fair

You need 2 things when you go to the ICFF show in NYC: good walking shoes and stamina. This show is big.  It seemed like there were less booths this year, nevertheless there was still lots to see.  We saw innovative, wood furniture, digital textiles, wall paper, tile, glass, and everything for the home; each with its own uniqueness. IKEA even had a space and the new furnishings looked great.  We enjoyed catching up with one of our favorite rug designers Malene B; her designs are phenomenal.

As part of the ICFF there was also an entire space, in a separate hall, devoted to the Africa and African Caribbean Diaspora, which we stumbled upon by accident. This organization was formed to “promote a greater awareness amongst the British public of the creative talent of the African and African-Caribbean diaspora in the UK.” It was not very well publicized or well attended given the fact that the actual show was packed. But we enjoyed it immensely. We made some good connections and look forward to building new relationships. Looking forward to next year.

The Supremes!

I saw these capes worn by the Supremes at an exhibit titled "Come See About Me" at the African American Museum in Philadelphia.  My eye immediately saw the Ndebele and the Maasai influence!

Spring Planting Pallet Style

Denys thanks her husband Tony for finding a pallet dragging it home and helping her get it ready for planting. Denys is planting her favorite arugula and spinach.

Spring Has Sprung!

IndagaHOME is excited about spring and all the activities that come with it.  We have been going to exhibits, trade shows and lots of Flea Markets.  We find such interesting things that we upcycle for homes and gardens.    Denys just returned from the  Smithsonian Craft Show in Washington DC this weekend.  We will be sharing some interesting design she found in our nations capitol. 

We are looking forward to our annual trip to ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) in NYC later this month as well as the Stationery and SURTEX show where Monna checks in with other licensed designers and trends. It's good that both these shows are going on at the same time in the same place!
