Dear Friends,

As we reflect on 20 years of Martinez Studio, we need to tell you that we couldn’t have done it without you. The love and support of our clients, our friends and our fellow artists has fueled and inspired us. How can we possibly thank you? We’re going to try.

This summer, Martinez Studio will re-issue favorite items in celebration of our twentieth anniversary: glasses, candles, vases and shopping bags. All decorated with Sandra’s distinctive symbols and a riot of color. These playful, affordable pieces are a tangible way to show our gratitude to you. Back by popular demand, Sandra is also working on a handful of new zippered totes and large clutches with vintage fabrics.
 
And of course, there’s the fiesta. After a few years’ hiatus, the Martinez Fiesta is back and we’re going big this year. Come celebrate on Saturday, July 12, 3-7 pm at the studio. Featuring Wence’s famous salsa, tacos, munchies, beverages, music and of course – art, family, and friends. We can’t wait to see you!

A 25 Year Project in the Making

We have a deck above the garage that we never used because it was leaky and needed some TLC. For some reason we decided that 2014 would be a good time to fix it and make use of it. To our surprise it was not that costly to fix and now we can't believe we waited so long. It's a nice outdoor room.

It's Juneteenth Day

Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth Independence Day, Freedom Day, or Emancipation Day, is a holiday in the United States that commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas in 1865, and more generally the emancipation of African-American citizens throughout the United States.

"La Salle University’s exhibition Straight Water Blues brings together many of Bullock’s most recent artworks.Bullock’s abstract three dimensional sculptural forms made from acrylic paint on heavy watercolor paper evoke ancestor spirits and tell personal and shared stories.Bullock responds to current events and also expresses a sense of connection to her familial past, African American culture, and African motifs and spiritualism."

"Cape Town, South Africa-based Porky Hefer has created an incredible series of cozy nests for humans that can be perched high up in the trees! The amazing woven nests are handmade from natural materials and are inspired examples of bio mimicry that emulate the building techniques of weaver birds.
